PTAs also reinforce home programs, encourage patients during demanding rehabilitation, and report observations on changes in patient status.
PTAs work in hospitals, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, home health, pediatric settings, and sports medicine practices across Florida. They are central to the productivity of the rehabilitation team because they enable physical therapists to manage more patients while ensuring that each receives appropriate supervised care. Licensing in Florida
To practice in Florida, PTA candidates must complete a CAPTE-accredited associate-degree program, pass the National Physical Therapy Examination for PTAs (NPTE-PTA), and complete the Florida Laws and Rules examination. Applicants submit fingerprints and education verification. Licenses are renewed every two years with documented continuing education, including state-mandated topics.
