RRTs work in adult and neonatal intensive care units, emergency departments, general medical floors, pulmonary function labs, sleep labs, rehabilitation units, home care, and air and ground transport. In Florida, they often respond to rapid response and code-blue events and are essential to weaning patients from ventilators. Some Florida RRTs also serve in disaster response and surge capacity for respiratory emergencies, a role highlighted by recent hurricane and pandemic events.
